Conversations with Kelly Potter

Potter Family

Our colleagues are at the heart of who we are and the services we provide. Without them we would not be in a position to serve our clients and community at the capacity in which we do. We recently sat down with Kelly Potter, Professional Liability Risk Advisor and Principal at Cavignac, to learn more about her career and her life outside of work. This is what she had to say.

What is your favorite part about your role at Cavignac?

I love working with businesses to help them implement effective risk management and insurance programs. I thoroughly enjoy the process of learning about a businesses workflows, strengths and challenges, and I get sincere satisfaction out of helping them manage and transfer their risks successfully.

What is one thing people would not know about you by just meeting you or looking at your resume?

I’m a huge Dolly Parton fan!  Dolly’s music is great and I have an extensive vinyl collection of her albums I love to play.  More than that I love that she is a fierce and successful business woman who doesn’t take herself too seriously; she’s not afraid to speak her mind and be herself; she’s committed to giving back and incredibly generous, and her one-liners are top-notch!

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I love being outside and finding adventures with my husband and our two daughters.  We love being at the beach, in the mountains, or exploring new places.

Who has been a role model for you in your life and career and why?

Jeff Cavignac!  I started 15-years ago as an intern while I was finishing college.  Jeff has always made time for me to help in my professional development and truly leads by example.  Jeff is the most knowledgeable insurance and risk management professional I know, and he is committed to helping our team continue to be learners and share the knowledge.  His time management, commitment to doing the right thing and always doing what he says he will do, elevates all of us and I feel incredibly blessed to get to work with and learn from him on a daily basis.

What do you look forward to in 2023, both personally and professionally?

Personally:  Our family is doing a big Scotland trip this year that I am really excited about.  We’re getting a small RV and exploring the highlands and Isle of Skye.  I can’t wait to see my daughters faces as they walk through real castles and old ruins. I’ve been reading them old Scotland folklore at night so they are getting into the history and magic of past Scottish generations.

Professionally:  I am excited to continue to strive for excellence in all that we do and find ways to better serve our team and our clients. At Cavignac we often talk about living in zip code 89410, where we perform at a level of 8 or 9, always raising the bar and striving 4 that perfect 10!

Thank you Kelly, for your commitment and dedication over the last 15 years. We are lucky to have you on our team.
