Biography
Matthew Slakoff is a Principal, Co-Chief Operating Officer, and a member of Cavignac & Associates’ Executive Management Team. Prior to joining Cavignac in 2006, Matt spent six years as a commercial underwriter, learning the industry from the ground up. This technical foundation, combined with two decades as a Risk Advisor and now as a firm leader, informs his approach to advocating for Cavignac’s clients, people, and purpose.
In addition to his role helping to oversee firm operations, Matt continues to maintain an active advisory practice, specializing in the design and implementation of risk management programs for clients in real estate, hospitality, manufacturing, and construction. He has also developed particular expertise in the analysis and placement of environmental insurance and alternative risk transfer (captives).
Matt is an active member of CREDA, the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and Lambda Alpha International (LAI). He is also a past board president and member of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of San Diego (IIAB).
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Matt graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1997, studying Communications and Business Economics. Today, he lives with his family in Point Loma.

Matt is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Building Owners, and Lambda Alpha International (LAI).
